In loving memory of John Hom, who was born in Hoipin, Suibin Village, Guangdong Province, China and passed away in Sacramento after a long illness. He was 84. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Sandy; his children May (Greg) Hunte, and Ken (Shelley) Hom; his grandchildren Nicholas Hunte, Allison Hom, Jessica Hom, and Samatha Hom; his sisters Sui Ying Mak, Susan (Paul) Fong and Sutjiati; his brother William Hamdyl and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was a long time resident of Sacramento. He immigrated from Macau with his family in 1971. He faced many hardships but he persevered and supported his family beyond expectations. He worked at Sutter General Hospital until he retired in 1999.
John enjoyed the simple things in life like gardening, traveling, and cooking but first and foremost, he was devoted to his family. He cared for and nurtured his grandchildren. He opened his home to numerous nephews and nieces to attend universities.
He will be deeply missed by his family. The spirit of John will be forever in our hearts and will live on through his grandchildren. May he rest peacefully.
